Question

mesa
I have had this table for 22 years.  The person I bought it from said it had been in his family for at least 100 years. Would like to get any information about the table that you might have. It has two drop down leafs so it converts to a 2-4-or 6 person oval table and has 5 legs. The chairs are also very old but do not belong to the table.
I also have two lamps that were converted to electric lamps. ONe of them has some kind of animal feet that are part of the legs. The other one doesn't.

Any information that might be useful will be nicely appreciate it. Thank you, Lourdes

Answer
Thanks for your question,
Your table looks to be made of Ash. I would doubt it is 122 years old. Probably made @ 1900-1930s. Factory made. Very old tables didn't have the glides under to allow them to open up like yours. It has twisted legs and the 5th leg is to allow it to open up fully and not sag. I would bet it can hold several leaves when opened. A very nice table. When people talk about an old family piece, it always seems to be thought of as much older then it is. People tend to forget that the difference between them and a grandparent is usually less then 50 years.
I can't comment on the lamps without a picture.
