Collectibles-General (Antiques)/find glass to repair china cabinet

Question
HI,
I recently broke a pane of glass on a 3 door china cabinet that has been in the family for at least 75 years.  The pane measures 18" by 46" and is the old thin and "wavy" glass.  Since there are two other doors with like panes I need to find glass that closely matches.  I live in Phoenix, AZ.  Where do I begin looking?

Answer
Hi Keith
Nice to hear from you.
Sorry this has happened.
You should try one of those places that salvage used building materials.
They carry lots of old wooden windows that have this glass.
You will then have to get the glass cut to size by a pro but thats easy for them.
Hope this helps
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
