Question I have a 1939 Bang Tail nickel slot machine hc Evans and Co. (Patent no. 2069134-10278) I'm trying to find information on the machine and not having any luck. I want to try to restore the piece. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jerry
Answer Hi Gerald,
Bang Tails, made by H.C. Evans and Produced between 1946 and 1948. This is what we would generally call a 40's electro/mechanical console type slot machine. They made tons of different e/m consoles in the mid to late 40's, everyone did. They are really fun to play and exciting to watch but can be a little labor intensive to keep running or fix. I can only guess that this is why they have never been one of the top, on the list of slot collectors wanted lists. But maybe someday as they are great machines, heavy so shipping is expensive. I see running ones sell anyway from 600.00 to 1,200.00 but if you wanted one I would think you wouldn't have to search forever to find one in the 800.00 range. Not working maybe in the 100.00 to 200.00 range. However it is a great game and way under priced in my book. I have a sheet of information that is scanned and if you email me at jackpot7@ix.netcom.com I'll attach it and return your email OK? I also might know someone who may have a very hard to find manual available just for Bang Tails if your looking to buy one.
Sincerely
Rodger Knutson

Thanks for the info. I would be interested in the service manual.

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com
Experience
I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
