Question
Hello Rodger. I was wondering if you could give me a good asking price for a 1978 Close Encounters of the Third Kind Pinball Machine in Good Working Condition. I have looked around on ebay and such but have not been able to really find much. thanks,
Doss

Answer
Hi Doss,

I know, it's hard to know the right price to ask for something. The 2007 trend value or price is $600.00 on this model, so if it were me, I would start or shoot for around $800.00 being it's a good working machine, if the play field is perfect I might even try for a little more. On average you should find them trading in the $600.00 range.
I hope this get you the answer you wanted to know. Oh, they made 9,950 of these units, so there is a few others out there somewhere.
Thank You
Sincerely
Rodger Knutson

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
