Collectibles-General (Antiques)/9-panel slag shade

Question

slag ext
I acquired this shade from a piece of property that was built late 1800s.  I
believe it was made to hang, but not certain.  We would like to have some of the
tabs repaired and put it into use.  Could you give me some history of the piece.
I have not been able to find any similar shades w/ 9-panels.  Also, is the slag
considered "chocolate slag?"

Answer
Hi, with out a physical inspection, I can't tell if it is an older 1800s piece, or one from around the 1930s. It could have hung, or many of these were found on large table lamp bases. Companies such as Miller, and Handel made them. It is called caramel slag.

thanks
