Question

antique lamp
We have inherited the attached lamp from our grandmother. There seems to be no markings on it.  The arm has been slightly broken and it looks like someone tried to repair it. It appears the lamp was made prior to electricity and then converted to electricity later.  Can you give us any background on what type of lamp it is and any idea of value?  Thank you ~

Answer
Hi, the lamp appears to be very old and probably European. It is hard to assess this type of lamp without handling it. It could have originally been a candelabra or statue converted to electric, like you said. Without any information at all I would sell it for around $300 to $400. However, depending on its origin, it could be worth 2 or 3 thousand dollars. So, I would not sell it until more research is done.

Thanks
