Question

James Dixon Teapot
Hi Martin,
What can you tell me about this stately pewter teapot or coffeepot... it is marked James Dixon and Son ....
Thanks so much,
Gary

Hello Gary,

Coffeepot. If the mark has "son" in singular, then about 1830, if it is "sons" then c1840. It is made of Britannia metal, a pewter alloy used in fabricating from sheet metal rather than casting. Made in Sheffield, England, by the most prolific maker of such wares.

Hope that helps.
