About Irene Schwall
Expertise I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2.
Please note:
I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing -- I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
Experience My expertise is in ANTIQUE sewing or needlework tools & thimbles, gold, silver, brass, ivory, bone etc. Modern thimbles are not necessarily my strong point but I may be able to help so don't hesitate to ask. I am also very well versed in the identification of Hallmarks on sewing collectibles.

Question After my mother died we found a leather pouch belonging to my grandmother with two metal tools. The sweing tool is four inches long and the widest metal part is 3/8 inches. The sewing end is about a one inch tube with a slit in it that is held closed with a metal clasp. The width of the tube is about 1/8 inch. At the end the tube it comes to a point with an eye in the end. The handle part of the device can be tightened by placing the clasp in one of five wholes. It looks like you would thread it like a needle and then the thread would come out at the end. In the kit were two flat spools of thread, one light brouwn and one white. The second tools is 2 3/4 inches long has an awl point at one end and what looks to be pencil lead at the other. My grandmother was born in 1882 and did every type of hand work. Thank you for your time and consideration. Grace

Photos can be attached to the AllExperts query sheet or you can send them to me at: xtahoeviews@yahoo.com
Thank you and I look forward to helping you.
Regards,
Irene
