Thank you

Answer
Hi Tina
Nice to hear from you.
Heres what I think as you asked.
By the way not to many folks ask me what I think and its nice to give an opinion as I rarely get to do that at home..I'm married you see LOL.
Seriously though Tina, if you are fortunate enough to have a solid mahogany bedroom set you should make every effort to have it restored.
Mahogany is often called "the king of furniture wood", and I agree with that.
It finishes the nicest of all woods and there are no surprises with this wood. The outcome is always the same..beautiful.
Now the downside is the cost to refinish an entire set such as this.
It will be pretty expensive unless you want to do it yourself.
It sounds like it has been painted..is that correct?
If you can let me know, or better yet a picture I can send the stripping and refinishing info.
Also tell me a bit about your skill level in this area.
Great question
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
