Question
I have my Grandmothers iron bed. I made the mistake of loaning it out and did not receive the rails back. They were "lost".
The head and footboards have a double hook on them, where or how can I find a replacement so that I can use the bed again.Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

                          Thank You,

Answer
Hi Nancy
Nice to hear from you.
What a shame.
Your only hope is looking for replacements in antique stores, thrift stores like Goodwill and Sally Anne etc.
And its not something the antique stores will have on display but out in a back storage room.
Also keep an eye out at yard sales but thats a stretch.
Unfortunately these are not something folks kept hanging around.
Most of these lovely old beds went for scrap.
I am also sending you this link

If you scroll down on the page you will see a contact email address.
These folks may help you.
Good luck in your search.
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
