Question

gumball machine
Hello Robert:

I have just purchased a gumball machine off of ebay and the seller did not know the make or model, so I thought I'd see if you did. I have emailed you a picture.

Thanks much,
T

Answer
Hi Talena,

I seen your machines photo here and started to remember this one. These are reproductions that were made maybe 5 or more years ago and sold in a lot of stores. I have see a couple of them myself up close. They all look the same for the most part, and all the one's I have seen are all painted red like yours. They are built of metal and standard size, but built as a novelty, for home use and not commercial use. I researched it some more and found you a another one like it so you can compare it to yours, and will be able to see for yourself. Here is a link to one of them:

Also, you should be able to tell that you have a universal coin acceptor, meaning it will take and vend on just about any size coin you put into it. You could buy these in a lot of different department stores, in fact they may still be selling in stores but I don't know, as I don't go into the larger stores anymore then I have to. Sorry I couldn't tell you some better news, but I have to tell you as it is, and it is telling me it's all reproduction even from what little I can see from the photo, I am sure it is this model. I always try to keep my feed back here right up in the 10's as it tells me I am helping, and finding the right answers for peoples questions, so if you have any other questions, please just ask Talena, OK?

Oh... Just in case you can't get the above link to work, go to ebay and enter this item number into the search box and it will take you right to it, it's item number 180414587608

Thank You
Sincerely

CommentThank you so much for your timely reply. I'm not disappointed; I am mainly getting this for a fun project. I am going to have it dispense treats for cats and other pets at our non-profit pet adoption center for kids to give to them. = D

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
