About Irene Schwall
Expertise I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2.
Please note:
I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing -- I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
Experience My expertise is in ANTIQUE sewing or needlework tools & thimbles, gold, silver, brass, ivory, bone etc. Modern thimbles are not necessarily my strong point but I may be able to help so don't hesitate to ask. I am also very well versed in the identification of Hallmarks on sewing collectibles.

Question I have a plastic thimble that says:
KEEP EN. V. IZAC IN CONGRESS
Any ideas on this?
Thank you
Answer Hello Laurie,
You have a political thimble obviously.
These political campaign thimbles were a popular item during the 1920's to 1950's. There are more recent ones like Carter Mondale etc.
The only IZAC that I know of is this one: He represented California from 1937-1947 (Democrat). His name also shows up in the Statistics of the Congressional Election of November 8, 1938.
Edouard Victor Michel Izac (1891-1990) of San Diego, California, Born in Cresco, Iowa, December 18, 1891. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War I; U.S. Representative from California, 1937-1947 (20th District 1937-1943, 23rd District 1943-1947). Received the Medal of Honor for actions as a German prisoner of war in 1918.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Irene
