Question
I have an old Emerson Upright Piano, Serial #58762. It plays but needs a good tuning and a couple of hammers are missing. It was previously stripped of its old finish but really was not refinished. It is made of walnut and the woodwork is awesome. Any idea of the age or value range.
Answer made around 1893 according to the serial number. old uprights bring little money if they are in need of work which this is. around 1---300 is all you could expect to realistically get for it, the main reason is that it is expensive to have them made right; for example, i charge 3500 to refinish the woodwork, to redo the mechanisms would run another 5-8000.
