Question
I have had this dresser for about 15 years now. It is said that it was my grandmothers mothers but I am not 100 percent. I was hoping from the pics you might be able to tell me the manufacture and when id dates back to. It is what looks like cherry or mahogany and has a removable marble top. The mirror swivels back and forth and at the bottom underneath the bottom drawer is a secret drawer that pulls out from the bottom. Any info would be appreciated
Answer the picture is too dark. send to bobklein1@cox.net as jpg files attached to the email, include the original question.
judging from this photo i will say that this is an eastlake style dresser manufactured 1890-1900. probably walnut but could be cherry or poplar. betting on walnut. the should have some areas of burl veneer on the drawer fronts and other places. send the pics and i will know where unless the surface it too dark to see.
pic of the entire piece, then pull one drawer out and take a picture of the outside of the side where it attaches to the front.
if it is the original mirror chances are that it is beveled at the edges, it originally ahd castors on it buy if they are still there and will come off easily then take them off and put them in a baggie in the drawer. these old pieces of furniture should be picked up to move not pushed laterally across the floor.
use only paste was on it NO OILS. briwax dark colored once every couple of years. this was originally par of a three or four piece bedroom set.

it is as i thought, eastlake style from 1890-1900 and the wood is walnut. it is a nice one that would be priced retail in a shop at 750-800 although you would not be able to get that selling from a home or garage sale. i see no burl veneer but that is not uncommon either.
