Collectibles-General (Antiques) - Buffet Table - WF Mfg Co, Warsaw

Expert: robert klein - 11/8/2009

Question
Hi, wondering, what type table this is (sending pic to email address), is it ok to refinish the top, both of them?  Do you know an apx value?
Under table, inside base states:  WF Mfg Co., Warsaw
No mfg year shows
Measurements: 33” x 17” x 30 ½”h
The table top is scratched and has glass ring stains.  Top edge has a little carving pattern around the outside  edge.  The legs are a little ornate with a couple of difference patterns on them.  The table top does slide around reveling an open storage area, the top then unfolds to form a larger buffet server.  Overall it is in medium/fair condition, not destroyed and not pristine.

Answer
this is a game table.  the warsaw furniture manufacturing company was known for high quality and although i cannot give the dates of operation of the company exactly i do know they started in the late 1800s and into the 20s.

your table is colonial revival built in the 1900-1920s era and done in mahogany veneers on the fronts and top.  i cannot tell the other woods from the pics but it is likely they are sweet gum and tulip poplar.

these tables are a desirable form and style, yours is high style and should be completely restored to maximize the value and esthetics.

i forgot to mention that these, in good condition, ready to go in any home for use or display bring 6-700 at auctions or in shops sometimes higher depending on the particular form.
