Question
I bought this mirror cheap at a tag sale and had to strip it since it had white paint on it (but still get patina). I would like to finish it but am not sure what color stain it should be. I am not even sure of the period. The mirror is heavy and large. This system only allowed me to upload one pic. Thanks for you help
Answer need some better pictures to bobklein1@cox.net, jpg files as attachments, clear and in focus.
to refinish this; take the glass out or you cannot do a proper job with the wood nor can you properly clean the glass. you can complete the stripping once the glass is out, i can see in the pic that you are not yet through with the stripping process. what kind of stripper did you use?? staining is your preference to match what you already have. when you take the back off there will probably be a date on the back of the mirror glass. it does not have a lot of age but it is a fine mirror style.
waiting for pics.
