Question
I found this really nice antique table. i do not know anything about it besides what it says. I am not looking to sell it or anything. I am just curious about its history. Could you please give me some information on my table? Its kind of banged up, and I can't truely know how to help it, if I do not know about it. If It is really special I do not want to do much at all. Like maybe what year was it made, what is it approx. worth, what style is it.. etc. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah there is a stamp in red ink on the backside of the drawer I can only make out some of it." ________ __________ parts of this furniture contains the following material, cherry and ____________Elm __________ _V__________ Cherry __________ " The blanks are the words that I can't make out.I will be sending me some more pictures. Thank you so much for your time.
Answer bassett bought weiman in the late 1979. Your table appears to be 1960s vintage and done in veneer on the top. typical veneers of this time were elm, cherry, and mahogany, veneer is not a bad thing, it is a good thing as it is usually a figured grain. It is a factory manufactured piece in with a combination of classic styling.
stripping an finishing would only help and increase any value. but make sure someone knows what they are doing. it is not a home project.
It is likely that there is particleboard orMDFunder thetop veneers which would be typical of the time.

I apologize for omitting the worth of the table. This is not an antique or a collectible. It is of modern vintage and was manufactured in large quantities . In a resale shop or antique mall it would be priced at 50-75 once it is put in better condition. As is, a retail price of 25-30 would be customary. I hope this is a more complete answer and is helpful.
