Question
What can you tell me about this dining room set...manufacturer, style, age, type of wood, etc.? It has a table with three leaves, six chairs, a sideboard, and a china cabinet. There is a thick pad on the table and sideboard, which has kept the top of the sideboard and table in good condition. The set belonged to my in-laws, and I am planning on selling it as I already have a dining room set. Do you have any idea what it is worth? I can send more pictures if you need them.
Thank you.
Carol
:-)
Answer Carol - Your set is French Provincial in style made of maple veneer with the ubiquitous "fruitwood" finish found on sets of this era. It appears to have been made in the 1970s. It is a very generic style and without a maker's mark there is no way to tell who made it.
My area of expertise is American antique furniture and I am not familiar with contemporary pricing. I suggest you consult a local dealer in better quality used furniture for a value in your area.
Thanks for writing.
