Expert: Fred Taylor - 11/5/2009
Question Hello, I have a mersman coffee table with the number 7398 on it and was wondering how much it could be worth and where is the best place to take it to sell it? I live in the Central New York State area.
Answer Nancy - I do not have a Mersman catalog so I can't look up your table number. However, because of the ready availibilty and mediocre construction of Mersman tables, few sell for over $100, most in the $50-$75 range. I have written a column about Mersman as part of my syndicated series called "Common Sense Antiques." I will be happy to share it with you and any other readers who request it by email at info@furnituredetective.com.
You can consign the table to a local auction, sell it to a dealer or include it in an estate sale - whatever works best in your part of the country.
Good luck. Thanks for writing.
