Question
Sir:
Before I move forward to possibly sell my antique slot machine I would like to gather some information on it's value in my effort to not be taken for advantage.

I have the following and am interested in it's value.

1930 Mills gooseneck .05 cent slot machine in good working condition.

This type is lifesaver candy style on both sides of the jackpot window.

coin window is magnified.

Information that I have found on the machine is as follows, inside under the top is stamped FOK 701A the serial number is listed as 168131.
There is a complete description of the machine use and maintence on the inside back panel also with original lock and key.

All reals work well and payouts are fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also I am considering Bob Levy to sell it to is he a fair dealer.

Thank you in advance.

Answer
Mark:

It sounds like you have a Mills Two Column Jackpot Front vendor.

These are relatively common machines (as far as antique slot machines go) and were made in the mid to late 20's to the very early 30's.

Without seeing detailed pictures I really can't give advice as far as value goes.

I would recommend going to www.AntiqueSlotMachinePriceGuide.com and do a search for "two column vendor" (without the quotes).

It will have actual sales data for what these machines have sold for on both eBay and at major slot machine auctions.

You can then decide what you need to get out of it.

In order to get the pricing information you will need to purchase a two week subscription ($39.95) but if you send me an email directly (Dave@IBuyOldSlots.com) I can get you a code for half of that (I help run the site).

Many of the major dealers and collectors around the country use that site to keep track of prices.

Expertise

My expertise is in the area of antique slot machines. Specifically pre 1940 era machines. I have an extensive price history list of slot machines that have been sold on eBay and other auction houses (e.g., Victoria Casino Auctions, Rich Penn Auctions, etc.). PLEASE, do not send questions about anything that is not coin-op related. I have no expertise in other items and cannot help you.

Experience

1. I run a discussion forum on coin operated devices (http://www.coinopcollectorforum.com) 2. I maintain a web site which tracks price trends for antique slot machines (www.AntiqueSlotMachinePriceGuide.com) 3. I published an 8 hour video tape on how to properly restore a Mills slot machine back in the 1990s 4. I published a book (Coin Op On CD) which was distibuted on a CD. This CD had many articles and thousands of photos of antique coin operated devices. It also had many videos of rare and unusual coin operated devices. This CD has since been published on the web (http://www.ibuyoldslots.com/COCD/) 5. I have written articles on how to identify fake/reproduction slot machines.
