Question
QUESTION: I am interested in more information (manufacturer & date of manufacture, value) on a toy tin "Little Mother" sewing machine that I have received from my mother. It is dark blue with a picture of a little girl in the upper right hand corner. I have searched the web and cannot find much information on this toy.  Thanks so much for any information you can offer.  Pat

ANSWER: Hello Pat,
I'm sorry for my tardy reply.  I was on jury duty.
Are you able to attach a photo of your toy machine?  This would be most helpful.
Thank you.
Irene

QUESTION: Attached is a photo of the toy sewing machine.  Thank you for your time. Pat

Answer
Hello Pat,
Thanks for the photo, it is always most helpful for me to see the object being discussed.
The LITTLE MOTHER toy sewing machine was made by Artcraft Metal Products, Inc. of West Haven, Connecticut, USA.
Your little machine would have come in the original cardboard box - do you have it?  This would make it more valuable.
The machine dates to the 1940's.  This machine was available with several variations of the base.  They came in navy blue, royal blue, two-tone, maroon and red just to name a few and they are made from sheet metal.
If your toy machine is in excellent condition, no damage and is fully operational with the original box, you could expect to sell it for approx. $110 - $200.
I hope this helps.
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
