Question

3 Pics of the Mills sl
I have the opportunity to buy a Mills slot machine from 1930.  According to the advertisement it is the model: "Mills Tura Silent Bell 1930".  I checked many websites on the internet and to me it looks like a Mills Hero machine, however, I can not find any machine on the internet with exactly the same front.  The machine itself is in perfect condition, including the back end and keys.  On attached I send you 3 pics of this machine.
The person I want to buy this machine from is asking a minimum of 1000 Euro's, which is about 1250 dollars.

The advertisement of this machine says this machine works with 5 Euro-cent coins; the Euro was introduced in the year 2001.

My questions are basically:
1) Is it possible for you to indicate if this machine is (100%) originally and is it possible an original slot machine from 1930 uses 5 Euro-cent coins?
2) is it possible for you to indicate if this machine is made in (or arround) 1930?
3) Is this machine worth 1000 Euro's?

Any help on these questions would be highly appriciated!

Answer
I don't know what that machine is worth over in Europe. In the US foreign machines typically sell for 50% (or less) of what a non foreign machine wold bring.

It looks like it is from the 1930s but no way to tell if any modifications have been done just by looking at a few pictures.

Expertise

My expertise is in the area of antique slot machines. Specifically pre 1940 era machines. I have an extensive price history list of slot machines that have been sold on eBay and other auction houses (e.g., Victoria Casino Auctions, Rich Penn Auctions, etc.). PLEASE, do not send questions about anything that is not coin-op related. I have no expertise in other items and cannot help you.

Experience

1. I run a discussion forum on coin operated devices (http://www.coinopcollectorforum.com) 2. I maintain a web site which tracks price trends for antique slot machines (www.AntiqueSlotMachinePriceGuide.com) 3. I published an 8 hour video tape on how to properly restore a Mills slot machine back in the 1990s 4. I published a book (Coin Op On CD) which was distibuted on a CD. This CD had many articles and thousands of photos of antique coin operated devices. It also had many videos of rare and unusual coin operated devices. This CD has since been published on the web (http://www.ibuyoldslots.com/COCD/) 5. I have written articles on how to identify fake/reproduction slot machines.
