QUESTION: I have come across an old looking sewing machine with the girl sewing machine co ltd on it.  it has a serial number and has been very well took care of but i cannot find any info on it.  can you help or direct me?

Thank you for your query and I am going to assume that this sewing machine is the toy or collectible variety.
Firstly, are you able to include a photograph of your sewing machine?
There was a GIRL toy sewing machine made by Herbert Laatz, of Offenbach, Germany in the 1950's.  It has the word "Girl" across the top. It was made of plastic.
Is this what you have?

QUESTION: Thanks foe answering so soon.  no it is a real metal (or whatever) machine.  It has "The Girl sewing Machine Company.,LTD"  across the top of it.

I'm sorry but I can not be of assistance to you as your machine is a domestic or household sewing machine.  My expertise as far as sewing machines go, is in the TOY or small collectible variety.
