Hello Tracie,

Your jug was made by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, England, and probably will date to the late 19th Century. It will be made of Britannia metal, a pewter alloy used in fabricating from sheet rather than casting. Dixons pieces are common, as they were a hugely prolific manufacturer, so values are correspondingly very modest. A typical Britannia metal Sheffield cream jug of about 1890 will fetch less than 5 pounds / 10 dollars.

Hope that helps.
