Question
My husband's grandmother aquired this lamp in the early 1940's from a family friend that didn't like the lamp (she had it in her basement for quite some time). We have now aquired the lamp from her. We can tell that it is caramel slag glass. We have turned the lamp upside down and practically inside out looking for any identifying marks and cant locate any. It has two light sockets and the base lights up as well. There are no apparent defects but the cord has been replaced. It is a nice size at 25" high and about 18" wide across the shade. It has 6 panels of glass on the base and 8 panels on the top and bottom sections of the shade. It is quite beautiful. Any idea on the maker, an appx. year it was made and an appx. value? Thank you so much. Any info would be appreciated...I am driving my husband crazy trying to find info on this lame!
AnswerThe lamp appears to be from the Mission or Arts and Crafts era from late 1800s till about 1920. Depending on the mfg. and condition, the lamp may be valued starting at $500 up to several thousand $$. Do a search on Ebay using those terms I listed, to get an idea of going prices.
Thanks
