Question

Boye Tailor Tack-It
Barbara, my husband found a Boye tailor tack-it pattern marker among his mother's sewing things. The box identifies it as Item No. 1062, U.S. Patent No. 2,839,993, price printed $2.50. It is made of strong silver-colored metal with green felt glued to the bottom. Engraved on it is the patent number and TAILOR TACK-IT, THE BOYE NEEDLE CO., CHICAGO, ILL. MADE IN U.S.A. There is no date anywhere, or zip code. It contains instructions but no transfer paper. Is it worth anything? It did not sell on eBay for $3.99. Thank you. MaryLu

Answer
Hello Mary Lu.  You can research the patent through the internet (google has a great patent feature).  I'm assuming it is contemporary(not antique) from the artwork depicting the tool's use. If the item originally sold for $2.50 and it didn't sell on ebay for $3.99, then I wouldn't think the item has much monetary value.  Barbara
