Question
Hi Barbara, I have a 1893 14k gold Columbian Exposition Thimble #10 made by Simons Bros. in very good condition do you know what the market value is? I am planning on selling it on Ebay.

Answer
Hello Henry.  I would not venture a guess on a specific thimble without seeing a photograph of it.  If you can send a digital photo, please email me at bacchino@twcny.rr.com.  I can tell you that the thimble would be cross collectible with expo and thimble collectors both having an interest in it.  Also - there were two different designs issued.  Does yours have the words only or the buildings?  I can also tell you that thimbles are not bringing what they did two years ago due to the current economic situation.  However, gold thimbles seem to be holding their own much better than sterling.  Barb
