Question

Antique one-drawer cab
I recently got bought a cabinet that was labeled as "table-top desk". I,m not sure that is correct. It has one drawer and inside the drawer is a divider, or pieces of a divider, for storage of something. As I've looked at the cabinet I'm thinking that it is probably some kind of a display/storage cabinet from a hardware or general store. I've attached pictures of it, could you help me to better identify it?

Answer
Hi Patti.  Your item could very well be a display case from a store.  I've seen desk/laptop models, but their tops are usually slanted to enable you to write.  Since there are no decals on the top or drawer to indicate a brand, I'm not sure that it is a spool/thread cabinet.  There are books out on them.  Perhaps your local book store or library could provide more info for you.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.  Barb
