Question
I have a musical tankard that plays little brown jug(although a little tired) on the front its george 6th and on the bottom it has knighthood old englieh pewter and a number 3. I just wondered if it was worth restoring and where to go if it is. Thanking you Christine

Hello Christine,

These novelty mugs are products of various makers in Sheffield, England, and are not earlier than the 1950s. Your example was made by Sturges Bladon & Middleton, who used the Knighthood trademark from the 1930s and who ceased trading in 1978. With George VI, yours is probably early 1950s.

So a common and not very old novelty piece - really not the type of thing for restoration unless it has sentimental value.

Hope that helps.
