Question

goblet
We have two goblets that appear to be of pewter. They have two marks on the bottom in a diamond shape pattern. The first mark is of a horse facing left. The second appears to be a warriors helmet or something similar. We were wondering if they are antique or not.

Hello  Delsie,

Your goblets or wine cups probably are made of pewter. This type of deep relief cast decoration is commonly found on 20th Century souvenir pieces, and your pieces will date not earlier than about 1920, and possibly much later. Objects with similar decoration are often of German manufacture, but the marks you describe are not typical, so I cannot be certain where they were made.

Hope that helps.
