I have a out door wicker set the couch the rocker and the
chair from  1920 it was left out in the winter . what
should i do now to protect it? thank you
Michelle

Answer
Hi Michelle
Nice to hear from you.
Of course I don't need to tell you that the best way to protect wicker furniture is to keep it out of the weather.
Nothing much to be done after the fact but get it dried out and indoors.
Then determine if the finish is flaking off..if it has one.
Is the set painted or does it have a clear coat?
If the finish is damaged, you will have to remove the loose finish with a stiff brush and apply a fresh coat of whatever is on it.
I'll bet this 1920 set is lovely and I'm glad you are concerned about it.
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
