Question

Old Lamp
Hello Rex,

Can you give me any information (background, approx. value, etc.) about this lamp? I can't tell you much about it... it was left to me by my parents. It is heavy - nearly 12 pounds. Feels very solid, both the smooth base (which looks like marble or granite almost) and the figurine, which looks to be attached to the base with a nut and bolt underneath, but not sure what it's made of. The pieces of the shade don't seem to sound like old plastic when clicked together, more like some sort of glass. There are no markings or labels anywhere that I can find, either on the base (where there does look to have been something maybe glued to the bottom) or the figurine.

Thanks for your time and help.

Frank

Answer
Hi, it appears to be an old, high quality art deco period piece. The lady is probably bronze. If this is indeed an original period piece with the original shade, it could be worth several thousand dollars. I haven't seen any repros like this, and since it was owned during your parents for many years, it is probably original. Look closely for any markings on the metal such as Frankart. Also search on Ebay for similiar.

Thanks
