Question
I have an armoire door lock broken - internal male piece has broken off and does not 'catch' the key when inserted.
I can remove the door and seek a replacement of the whole lock - any idea on estimated costs

Answer
Hi Ed
Nice to hear from you.
You can remove the locking mechanism easier than removing the door I'll bet and the locksmith you take it too will do that anyway.
Should be fairly straight forward to remove.
As far as a price Ed, I can't comment on that as I have never had to pay for a repair or new lock because I am the Sister of a locksmith and was given "family rates" LOL.
I cannot imagine the repair (which hopefully can be done), or a new lock would exceed fifty dollars though.
Sorry not more help.
Regards

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
