Collectibles-General (Antiques) - Water Damage

Expert: Bob Wiley - 4/16/2009

Question
We are dealing with an insurance company who has sent their own "furniture repair/refinishing" person to estimate what it will cost to repair/refinish solid oak furniture damaged by a flood.  We do not believe he is very knowledgeable.  Is there someone you can recommend in the SE Florida area that we can call with confidence to get real estimates?  We have a Drexel Heritage cocktail table that is solid oak.  The legs are SPLIT from the water.  They claim it can be "repaired" rather than replaced.  We also have water damage to antiques.  Any direction you can give us would be a great help.  Thanks

Answer
