About Rodger Knutson
Expertise
I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience
I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!

Collectibles-General (Antiques) - Gottlieb Pinball Backglass Value

Expert: Rodger Knutson - 5/1/2009

Question
I have three (3) back-glasses - two are "Jack 'n Jill" and the other is "Keep 'em Flyin'" - all are in fairly good condition.  I am NOT very computer literate, so my research has been very limited.  I did discover that they are all from the 1931-1977 time-line.  How do I find a value on these and what venue would you suggest I attempt to sell them?  I have no clue how to send a photo, but if it becomes absolutely necessary, I can get my 9 year old grand-daughter to help me.  Thank you.  Nick

Answer
Hi Nick,

You handed me a hard question here, there is no set value. It just depends how many people are looking for each one of these if any. If there is no others then could be worth a bunch. If I were to guess, I would say from $50.00 to $250.00 each but I am totally guessing here. I don't follow the parts prices unless I need something. Also condition is very important here, old glass can get a lot of paint flaking and scratches, which can make the glass almost worthless, flaky scratched glass looks terrible on a game once the lights behind it are turned on. So, if your glass is almost perfect, you have some valuable top box glass. Ebay would be one idea for selling them or the gameroom magazine want adds maybe another at:

The Jack 'N Jill glass is from a 1948 Gottlieb game's, and the Keep-en-flying is from a 1943 Gottlieb game. You also might try a search for "Gottlieb pinball parts", this would give yo a list of dealers for Gottlieb pinball dealers and talk to them about what you have and the value, talk to a few dealers and you would have a good idea of to the value. Then maybe you could sell them to a dealer. You could also say you want to know how much the glass would cost if one could be found. Now you would know the retail value if you got an answer, but I don't think you will find any set value, but maybe an idea what you can get out of them. Sorry I can't help much more then this but I think you can do OK with this information.
Thank You
Cheers
