AboutRodger Knutson Expertise I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com
Experience I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
Question my dad who passed 4 years ago acquired a riding horse with a name of sandy that operates with a dime slot. It has a saddle on it. He got this from an old laundromat that changed hands. I remember riding this horse when I was alittle girl over 45 years ago. Do you have any idea how much this might be worth and who made it?
Answer Hi Teri,
Great story, it's really cool that you have it now! There is a web site that sells these, and I think has information on books etc, that my be on the same line. Sandy the horse is one of the most popular of the coin operated early riding games. This site is at: http://gameroomantiques.com/NelsonPlayfield.htm This link has mostly new rides but the web site owner also has leads to the older one's like yours. I would guess that yours was made in the early 50's, and I see them sell for about 1,500.00 to 3,000.00 depending on the condition.
Cheers

P.S. do a search for coin operated kiddy rides, or coin operated rides on ebay once in a while and you will see one, then you can get an idea as to current value.
