About Rodger Knutson
Expertise
I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience
I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!

Collectibles-General (Antiques) - Bally 50's puck bowling machine

Expert: Rodger Knutson - 6/24/2009

Question
I do appraisals of personal property and there is a Vintage Bally bowling machine with puck and pins hanging down.  It works and is in very good condition.  Probably from the 50's
Any idea of a wholesale price?
Thanks
Fred

Answer
Hi Fred,

Well I got done answering your question here and hit the wrong button and lost it all, so I get to do it again. If this machine has a shuffle puck and not a bowling ball, it called a shuffle alley, the ones with the balls are called ball bowlers and bring more money then shuffle alleys. There were made for years, from the 50's to the 70's so there are tons of them by as many manufactures. They are big, heavy, and take up a lot of floor space so there is a market for them but to very few buyers. Retail a shuffle alley on average might sell for 400.00 to 1,200.00 retail in good working condition and depending on make and model, and maybe more or less then these figures. Your are asking wholesale value or what a dealer might offer for it, working? or not? you didn't say but you might expect an offer from $50.00 to a couple hundred, but not anymore then that as there big and hard to sell, and very expensive to ship and set up again. If you need an avenue to sell this, try your local Greg's list, it a free local Internet add listing, so the local buyer can pick it up. You there you have my guess, 50 to 300 if your lucky, wholesale, but maybe more if this is a particular machine that has more interest then the average shuffle alley. I hope this answers your question and gives you what you wanted to know.

Thank You
Sincerely
Rodger Knutson
