About Rodger Knutson
Expertise
I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience
I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!

Collectibles-General (Antiques) - Bally slot machine

Question
Hello Rodger

I was curious if you could tell me how much a Bally 1940 High Hand slot is worth? It's not working, missing the back door, has a painted red cabinet, and has a reproduction mirrored glass.

Answer
Hi Pete,

I have one just like yours by the sounds of it, there is a photo of mine in the book "Collector's Guide to Vintage Coin Machines by Richard M. Bueschel", on page 54. In that book in the back, there is a price guide and he gives it a value of $750.00 which to my knowledge is about right, especially right now as prices are down, and console slots have never done well, there under priced and still are. This is more of a rare console then most of them but that doesn't seam to matter in consoles. Being yours doesn't work you might have to figure some less, usually you can minus the cost of repairs, say repair would cost around 150.00, then your value might be around $600.00. I have some mechanism parts around for one of these as I bought a parts machine also years ago when I got mine, so if you need something for yours I may have it. I don't have the case to the parts machine so I don't have the rear door, but it is plywood so it would be a breeze to make one. Hope this has been of some help to you.

Sincerely
Rodger Knutson
