Collectibles-General (Antiques) - antique lamp

Expert: Rex Ransome - 7/10/2009

Question
We are trying to find out the maker of this lamp, its age, and its approximate value.  It belonged to my husband's grandmother and she had it converted from kerosene to electric. It has Made in U.S. of America stamped on the knob that adjusted the flame.  Under the base the number 307 is stamped (raised) in the metal.  Originally the lamp had a clear glass lamp which extended out the top of the top globe.  The top globe lifts off and the holder for the clear glass lantern top is still there.

Answer
Hi, it is a beautiful lamp. The colors are very unique and it appears to be intact. Generally these were produced from around civil war era to around the very early 1900s. It would be hard to determine the maker if it is not stamped on there (the base). I would say the value of this one is around $400 to $500. Thanks
