Question
I have in my possession a gold thimble with the number 8 stamped on the side and a floret? and rectangle pattern across the diameter. The thimble came in a sterling silver case with a pedistal? to hold the thimble in place. Any idea to its age and origin? It was my grandmother's and may have been in our family for some time. Thanks for any leads/info.
Mark

Answer
Hello Mark.  The 8 stamped on the thimble indicates the size, but in order to tell you anything else about the thimble or the case, I would have to see pictures.  You can send them to me at bacchino@twcny.rr.com or attach them to another question in this forum.  I look forward to hearing from you.  Barbara
