Question
I have two toy machines that I cannot get to work right. One is a GPT and it runs fine but the stitches are not attaching to the cloth.  It sews the top stitch. There isn't a bobbin. This machine runs on batteries and I think I must not be doing something correctly. I do not have a manual.  the other machine is a sew handy Singer 1962 and it appears that the needle is either broken or missing. There is a screw to hold the needle but when I take the screw off the part that sticks out will not come off. It is possible you insert a needle in it. I also do not have a manual. This is slectric, metal with an orange plastic cover. Do you know anything about these machines? thanks CM

Answer
Hello Crystal,

Thank you for your query.
I only collect these machines, I do not use them to sew with, sorry.
If I might direct your query to a collector group called Toy Stitcher, perhaps someone else might know where to get parts or be able to help you with threading.  I do not have manuals for either of these machines.

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
