Question
Do you know where I can get replacement parts for a Roos Cedar Chest? This has been in the family for years and I would like to refinish it - one piece of trim is missing.

If I had your chest in my shop I could easily duplicate the missing trim.
This is not something you can purchase at a store but any wood shop will be happy to make a piece for you.

| Comment | Thanks! I've never used this site before - was surprised at your quick response. I've never seen this chest on any of the web sites - my mother bought this in 30's or 40's. It was the last piece of furniture to leave the house - I couldn't part with it. Someone painted it so I have a big job ahead - but I will refinish it and hopefully find a shop that can match the missing piece of wood. Thanks for your help. Nadine | ||

I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.
Experience
I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
