Question

silver filigree needle
Hi, I have a silver filigree needle case circa 1800 which I belive to be French maybe English which I brought as, but as there are no marks on it i was advised it was french can you tell me anything else about it including value
Regards Ray

Answer
Hello Raymond.  Your case does not look French to me, either.  I found a picture of a very similar silver filigree needle case in "Antique Needlework Tools and Embroideries" by Nerylla Taunton (page 92, plate 97).  It is identified as late 18th/early 19th century English.  Her book does not indicate values.  My estimate for value would be $100-$125.  Hope this helps.  Barbara
