Question
Hello Roger,

I was wondering if you could help me figure out the value of my slot machine. I have a Bally Lightning 3 multiplier. On the side the numbers are 1005-3L
              1005-2-14
I believe it was made in 1974, maybe. I have a copy of a manual or it. It was converted to a dime machine. (I purchased it that way years ago.) It's still in working condition. do you know about how much it is worth?

Answer

Ballys Model 1005, "JI
Hi Cheri,

Your machine by the model number was made in 1974 and is called "JILLIONS" or the "Lightning" which is a all Jackpots Model. They used both of these games in this model number 1005 Bally Slot Machine. Cheri there is a kind of blue book GIDE for finding some kind of value for your slot machines, but really, as quoted this is a guide and there is no real blue book on antique slots. Your Bally model is listed in there, with values for 5 different condition grades. One being like new out of the box and 5 being a parts machine.

Grade one: $1,100.00
Grade two:   $960.00
Grade three: $850.00 (average working condition)
Grade four:  $610.00
Grade five:  $260.00

Knowing what I do, I would guess your machine to be worth around 500.00 to 800.00 right now, as this market is suffering a value drag, just as everything is, due to the economy. It can sell for more or you may be offered less, but this should help you price it. If you want to get a good price for it and don't mind waiting, ask a 1,000.00 or more and see what kind of offers or interest it brings. If there is no interest then you will have to drop the price if you want to sell it. As they say, the real value of something like this is what the seller is willing to sell it for and what the buyer is willing to pay for it, Sometimes you have to do a little dance to come to a price that the seller and buyer are happy with.

Good luck and I hope this answerer's everything you wanted to know about your machine.

Thank You and Cheers!

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
