Question

lamp
I inherited this from my great grandmother. Could you tell me age, value and anything else about the lamp. Thanks Randy

Answer
Hi,

You have what is known as a 'lincoln drape' Aladdin kerosene  (or oil) lamp (it is not a huricane lamp) - likely made around the 1940;s.  So long as the lamp has no chips or cracks they are sought after, particularly by collectors of aladdin lamps.  I am unable to verify from the photograph if the shade is original or a replacement, although likely the former.  Unfortuneately I am unable to assist with a value.  It is not approapriate to value items from photographs, nor am I able to ascertain your local market conditions and demand for such an item.

As I specialise in Victorian Lamps, particularly those made by Edward Miller if you are after further details there are a number of excellent websites on the internet dedicated to Aladdin lamps.

Stuart
