Question
Hello, I just picked up a box slam full of beautiful little
wicker baskets and what not. Most of them are really dusty
(they've probably been in that box a while) and 1 of them
seems to be coming undone. How can I clean/fix them up?

Answer
The baskets can be cleaned in two ways, you may want to use both. You can wash them in the kitchen sink using the sprayer[if you have one] to wash the dirt off with warm water and medium pressure. If they are Very dusty, you can get a can of "air" like for using on a computer keyboard, etc, to blow out the dust in the weave before washing.
Set the baskets to dry but not in the sun. The heat will dry them to fast and cause breakage or drying out. Put them on a covered porch or something like that to dry over several days. Then you can use a wipe on poly or oil such as Watcos to finish. Just thin the product slightly so it will flow into the weave instead of sitting on the surface using a "throw-away" brush.
Loose pieces can be glued with white glue or carpenters glue and hold them in place with clothespins or masking tape or whatever you find till it dries.
 Good Luck,
  Rob
