Question

Gottlieb Grip Tester
My dad has a Gottlieb Grip tester that he believes is pre-1900. Could you please provide any information as to its value? Also, he is interested in selling this and if you could help me find a buyer, I would greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide. Thank you so much and have a great day! June

Answer
Hi June,  Dave Gottlieb made the grip tester in 1927, and ran a route of the machines in Texas, until the next year when he relocated to the capitol of coin op manufacturers, Chicago.  There he continued to make the grip testers, becoming the largest maker of pinball machines in the US.  The paint on the top has been stripped off, so that hurts.  As a collectible, it has a value as is of around $200. I'd try for a local sale in the paper or craigslist.  Larry
