Question
I have one of these machines and it has never sewn a stitch.  The needle goes through the fabric and leaves a mark where the stitch should be but nothing.  I never had a manual for the machine and am wondering if something is wrong with the machine or I just do not know how to use it.  It is electric with a button to push to start and stop the machine.  Is there a manual or can you give me some info on the machine?

Answer
Hello George Ann,
It sounds as if your machine is missing the shuttle below the stitch plate.  I do not sew with these, only collect them so I'm no expert in this department, sorry.   As to parts, they are almost non-existent and I do not have a place to direct you to.
I have the threading instructions for the crank handle Betsy Ross and would be happy to share these with you if you think that might help.
Send and email to me at: xtahoeviews@yahoo.com with a notation for the Betsy Ross threading instructions.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
