Question

Sega front
I havea  few machines that I cannot find any information about.  One is a Sega progressive star and the other is made by Jennings.  The Jennings machine is not very nice there is no detail just a solid front with a indian head. The sega is nice but I dont have a clue about it.  Can you shed some lite on these two machines like value and if you have seen them before?

Mark

Answer
Hi Mark,

Sega was made in Japan for different markets, like Europe and even some "very few" went to the U.S. and most to the U.K. These were made using mills company dies and stamps after mills went out of business, and sega made these way into the 1960's. There is a manual for this machine at: http://jackpot7.freeyellow.com/page21.html and look for this if interested:

Sega Mechanical Slot Machine Parts Manual. This original manual is scanned in color, it 58 pages of great Sega slot machine information. The manual is dated The Sega's were made in Japan, but using original Mills dies and tools. Mills had three sets of dies, one was hardly used and Sega bought this set when Mills went out. Most saga's were made in the 60's, nice mechanisms and Sega chrome plated their parts where Mills had their parts, cadmium plated. Most Sega's are on foreign coin amounts. This catalog covers a Sega Diamond Star Cabinet 1961, Bell Cabinet types, 1959 model, model that looks just like the Mills high top, and it also has other models like the 4 reel model, lighting system Sega Star, even one with a payout control unit, in it and different export parts like English 6d, English 1d, Panamanian 250, Hong Kong 10 cent-50cent-50 cent 4 reel, dollar, Malayan 20 cent. also covers Sega Star cabinet, 21 bell cabinet and other stuff. A very neat original manual in English. I had three original sales flyers and there included also: Bonanza Star & the later Sega Playboy.

Your Jennings machine sounds like it could be a solid front sun chief maybe, if you want to send a photo to Jackpot7@q.com I'll see if I can get you some information on it also.

Thanks

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
