Question
Hi,I just recently inherited some old gumball machines. The first I want to ask about is a 1940 Northwestern machine, excellent to near mint, all original, protected by porsaline. What is the worth of such a machine, I was told they are very rare. Next again in near mint is a 1935 columbus machine with an octogon globe, all is original, including globe decal. Both machines work great. I was also told the columbus in this good of shape is extremely rare. Help me if you can please. What are they worth? Steve

Answer
Steve,

Northwestern and Columbus machines are plentiful.  Both companies produced thousands of machines.  Most Columbus and Northwestern that were manufactured in the 1930's and 40's are worth $150-250 depending upon condition.  There are some variations and models of both companies that are rare and worth much more.  If you email pictures to buck@nvc.net, I can identify your models and inform you if they are common or rare versions.
